ACP lets several autonomous coding agents share one repository without stepping on each other. It holds the durable facts that make cooperation safe — who is working, what work exists, which files are claimed, what progress can be recovered, and what still needs review — so independent agents coordinate through shared _state_ instead of a shared conversation.
