SurrogateShield
A privacy-first guardrail for LLMs and RAG pipelines. SurrogateShield detects, redacts, and reconstructs sensitive PII data on the fly while defending against adversarial attacks.
SurrogateShield replaces the personal data it detects with realistic, consistent surrogates before your message reaches an LLM provider, and puts the real values back in the reply. On the sealed test-3 benchmark of real chat messages it let 0.8% of 3,677 personal values through, against 9.1% for GLiNER-PII and 31.6% for Microsoft Presidio; the few places it trailed are listed in one line under Limitations. All cryptographic operations run locally. Measured results, each with its command, are in bench/results/README.md.
