PierCode is an open-source local development tool that connects web-based AI assistants — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Qwen, Kimi, and more — to your local filesystem and browser. The AI emits tool calls in its replies; a Chrome extension detects them and proxies them to a localhost Go server that executes sandboxed file, shell, and browser operations, then returns the results. It turns any web AI chat into a local coding agent that can read your repo, edit files, run tests, and drive the browser — no copy-pasting code back and forth. Learn more in the documentation.
