There was a time when Claude Code was a real coding agent — opinionated, fast, debuggable. The pivot toward onboarding the 99% changed that: hidden options because "users might misclick", forced auto-updates overriding pinned versions, new surface shipping while core surface stayed broken, heavy-user issues going unanswered.
