Paperclip's hermes-paperclip-adapter has a hardcoded provider whitelist (VALID_PROVIDERS in constants.js) that silently drops custom providers like custom:ollama-cloud. Setting HERMES_INFERENCE_PROVIDER in the adapter's env block overrides config.yaml and routes requests to OpenRouter as a fallback — causing 404 errors and wasted API credits.
